My show is just around the corner! EEK!

So, i have been blabbing about this for months now, but if you haven't heard yet or needed a friendly reminder here you go:

YOU ARE INVITED to my first ever Solo art gallery show!!
check it out:

Chelsea Rose Art Gallery Show

Come celebrate with me on one of this years last blissful summer nights. Drink wine, explore some local Portland artwork, trip out on my psychedelic paintings that may make you ponder the strange cosmic beauty that is within us and mysteriously surrounds us each day.
Your support will be very much appreciated.
and for those souls who are too far to attend- I hope you will be there in spirit.

Hope to see you at the opening!
Much love and many blessings,

So, as one could probobly imagine im pretty busy getting everything together for the show.
Check out the crazyness that is my work bench:
creative outlet
I have all my large pieces ready to go for the show, but I am doing a series of smaller acrylic paintings with pen and ink illustration. Tiffany Ruth wants to hang them in between the larger pieces thinking it will create a good contrast. i really can hardly wait to see what everything will look like hung up and ready to go.
I'm also working on a handful of mini canvas pieces that i will display on mini easels around the gallery on the tables.
....last night I was daydreaming about the show and thought about how cool it would be to have someone there who would be painted by me from head to toe- walking around serving drinks and hangin out. Im not sure who i could find that would be willing to walk around in nothing but body paint for a few hours. but its fun to dream!

In the meantime, Danny has been doing some more screen printing. He re screened the popular design of mine " the Goddess in All of Us" so we have some new prints on shirts to be sold. check them out:

But, i will certainly be posting pictures of how the show goes- so stay tuned for all that jazz.

  1. wow! I can't believe how much you're able to accomplish these days! You go girl! I wish I could go to your shop, but unfortunately I live too far away. So, did you two just buy the screens and ink for the screenprinting? My boyfriend and I are contemplating making shirts and I thought you'd be the one to ask, seeing as I know you sort of well and I know that you do it. :) That sounded silly. I suppose my big question is: Is it hard?

  2. I think screen printing is hard until you get the hang of it. The first few times we tried burning our screens we had big problems- but with each time we screwed up we learned what was needed to get it right. I still consider it a tedious process. We have a large roll of screen mesh that we bought from a warehouse. danny has to cut that to size and then stretch the mesh into the wooden frames we have. We do the photo emulsion method of burning a screen. We have to print two transparencies of the same image and lay both on top of each other perfectly on the emulsioned screen, then expose it to our lamp. printing with the screens can be tedious too- check to make sure the paint you are working will work with the size mesh that you have. we ruined our fair share of screens that way. if you are using the waterbased screen printing paint the stuff drys fast so you have to be quick with your prints and be sure to wash the paint out before it dries into the screen and ruins it.
....then you have to make sure you iron/heat the print very very well so that the paint sets correctly or else it will fade/peal
......we are realizing that screen printing is most effective cost and time wise if you have all the fancy shmancy- SUPER expensive equipment. its not cost or time effective for those of us that are doing it on the floor of our tiny little apartment's kitchen.
....that being said- my boyfriend does it for a hobby. it fascinates him. and the struggle is all part of the learning process.
give it a go yourself! just dont expect perfection right away : )
    good luck!

  5. Wishing you all the best for your show, Chelsea Rose. I am in New Zealand so obviously can't attend but if I was in your area I would definitely go! Your paintings look amazing; I love the colours and the feminine-ness of them.
[Your dreads are looking great too. I'm growing natural dreads, they're nine months old so still very messy!]
