It really is hit or miss with each art fair i have ever done. there have been many a times where i sat out in art fairs all day/night and made not one dollar. when i do make money it really is not much- not enough to justify all the time/effort and gas money i use to do the event. however, what i do find worth it about doing the art fairs( even if im not making anything) is i am able to participate in a community based grass roots gathering + i get to meet, interact with people and sometimes an amazing opportunity will pop up. In September i will be doing my first gallery show in Portland- thanks to a sweet lady who stopped by my booth, enjoyed the art and grabbed a card. she turned out to be a gallery owner. so you never know what will come out of doing one of those- but i usually know its not going to be money. Also, if you are new to the event its good to try and be there regularly so that shoppers being to recognize you. usually i have nothing the first time i do a new event- so dont get to discouraged. your work is amazing. im excited to see your illustrations for the book you are making about the old man and the mermaid!
best wishes always
-Chelsea roseChelsea Rosehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14321592429596600263noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-261066065057523488.post-27590307541221681132009-06-22T15:19:43.277-07:002009-06-22T15:19:43.277-07:00I had my first craft fair event a few weeks ago an...I had my first craft fair event a few weeks ago and I could not compete at all with the Lions Club face painters or the balloon artist. I was right in the middle of them so I just got to watch people walk by me.M.M.E.https://www.blogger.com/profile/09810117749263731836noreply@blogger.com
