I like Megan's points about varying the intensity to make the viewer's eye move around the painting...i think that its a valid comment and that it can be a tricky proposition but something thats good to experiment with. I like the contrast of the reds and oranges with the blue background because it really makes the figure pop out of the background.
Great work!Lrchttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07287598217794642050noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-261066065057523488.post-35035936962420230802010-02-27T01:41:40.717-08:002010-02-27T01:41:40.717-08:00These are amazing! Megan,
Thanks for your w...Eva, glad you think so.

Megan,
Thanks for your words, as always they are appreciated! Id say the only thing in this painting that isn’t “embracing the edges of the canvas” is the arm since the head is certainly on and passing the edge as well as her headdress/dangly parts and her torso. I’m thinking im going to keep the arm the way it is because i was going for a kinda "rosie the riveter" inspired pose with her tentacle arm. While this is a very portrait style art piece like most of my creature paintings….i was playing with the focal point idea by darkening the blue around the creature but keeping it brightest where her tentacle arm spirals- thus making that a focal or anchoring point. but know whos what i will or with this painting over the weekend.
again, thanks for your words :)Chelsea Rosehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14321592429596600263noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-261066065057523488.post-49794369202130004632010-02-26T10:02:20.868-08:002010-02-26T10:02:20.868-08:00It's nice to see all of your new projects. O...It's nice to see all of your new projects. Once thing that I want to say about your new painting is that you should start to embrace the edges of your canvas. Her arm seems to shy away from it, which only brings the viewer's attention to it even more. It's all right for things to go off the edges. Just bring our attention back in. You can also play with bringing our attention to a certain area or focal point. Everything is the same intensity in your work. Our eyes will move around more if you push and pull us out of focus and intensity. Just a few ideas. Take them with grains of salt. :)M.M.E.https://www.blogger.com/profile/09810117749263731836noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-261066065057523488.post-85474637043981023722010-02-26T09:58:10.123-08:002010-02-26T09:58:10.123-08:00The first body painting in this post is a total wi...The first body painting in this post is a total winner!!asfjhhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06843440671626954340noreply@blogger.com
