After receiving so many requests that I create coloring pages out of my art, I have obliged! I am releasing one original coloring page available as a digital download per month via my Patreon page. You can download my very first coloring page for <a href="https://www.patreon.com/posts/free-coloring-3771951"><b>FREE here</b></a>. Otherwise, to have access to my monthly coloring pages all you have to do is <a href="https://www.patreon.com/chelsearosearts"><b>become a Patreon</b></a> for either $4 or $12 per month. The ultimate goal is to eventually build up enough of these pages to self publish my very own coloring book, and the support garnered via Patreon will help with the production costs so that the books can be affordable for all.</div>

I am continuing to work with local community outreach organization <a href="http://www.albertaartworks.org/"><b>Alberta Art Works</b></a> to create some community funded public art. The above is a very rough concept mock up for a mural I am working with them to create on the side of a local yoga studio. There have also been talks of being involved in two different group murals…so more on all this exciting mural business coming soon! </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So that is a taste of what already is, and what shall be in this new year. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is a quick look back on 2015:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgipds6cQiRJjI6WLY6x8UBS0qXTkoGCOTiWnZIr7AOu89_ajI7TBg2sTL5AZjBckWaCvWHDdvFBcUwDlw6Nb32PyE_goMEwXdupeEbtv9d4W1TAizXgXAKgtzVLLPqKqs68Dajv9eDlyc/s1600/2015.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgipds6cQiRJjI6WLY6x8UBS0qXTkoGCOTiWnZIr7AOu89_ajI7TBg2sTL5AZjBckWaCvWHDdvFBcUwDlw6Nb32PyE_goMEwXdupeEbtv9d4W1TAizXgXAKgtzVLLPqKqs68Dajv9eDlyc/s400/2015.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Lots of awesomeness happened in 2015 and here are several highlights in no particular order:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I attended my first comic-con, I made improvements in my spray painting techniques, treated myself to a tattoo, painted a big commissioned interior mural, painted two public bench murals, discovered my love for painting tea, participated in several wonderful group art art shows around town, began producing my own coloring pages, completed over 31 new illustrations for the Drawlloween challenge. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2015 was full of the above mentioned and more including moments of loss, moments of oopsies, moments of WTF , but adversity makes us stronger. Its a delicate balance!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I am excited to see what opportunities, challenges and new understandings await us all in 2016. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Much love always and thanks so much for the support!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: left;">I am elated to have found a way to combine two things I absolutely love: painting and tea.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
For years I have heard of people using various teas to stain paper and had always meant to try working with it as an art medium…but I never quite got around to it until recently when I was inking a sketch and stupidly rested my tea mug on my drawing, thus leaving a tea ring stain. Instead of crying about it I got super inspired and happily finished the drawing off by painting/staining it with my tea.<br />
Here was the result:</div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
</div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/647/21911595580_66c45d3d3f_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/647/21911595580_66c45d3d3f_z.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
"Ghostly love"</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
original tea painted pen and ink drawing</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
(Sold)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I showed the result off and people seemed just as excited about my tea painting as I was…so I started experimenting some more:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/634/21911888868_13a6c20deb_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/634/21911888868_13a6c20deb_z.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This time I set up with two different kinds of tea: Rooibos Chai and Hibiscus. I excepted the Rooibos chai to produce a nice warm sepia tone and the Hibsicus to stain a light magenta. I was right about the Rooibos's stain but was super surprised that the Hibiscus actually dried to a blueish/purple. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
See the result here:</div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/597/21476937864_45ed56c277_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/597/21476937864_45ed56c277_z.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
"Merlady"</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Original tea painted pen and ink drawing</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
(Available for $60.00 <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/248767112/mermaid-tea-painting?ref=shop_home_active_8"><b>here</b></a>.)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
By this second tea painting I was 100% addicted and so I just kinda went nuts with it, doing more tea painting experiments, trying new teas, adding salt, trying new paper…and its been such a fun journey.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/743/21476940764_8445db5e48_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/743/21476940764_8445db5e48_z.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here I started with a pencil sketch that I then inked.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/667/21476943184_6123cf9826_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="330" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/667/21476943184_6123cf9826_z.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After the sketch was inked I added some washes with Rooibos Chai and Hibiscus tea</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/564/22087274152_c08765e67d_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/564/22087274152_c08765e67d_z.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Once the tea was dry I went back in and thickened up my ink lines</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Because I had been getting such a great response from people in regards to my tea painting I decided to run a limited edition print sale, in which I would hand paint each print with tea! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I chose to work with my Wednesday Adams original pen and ink sketch, which was a very fitting choice for a print release in October! </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I decided the edition with be limited to 10 prints, each hand painted with tea.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5630/22109852591_3e5bb3c43e_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5630/22109852591_3e5bb3c43e_z.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After I was painting each print, I signed and numbered them. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
They sold out in a few short days, thus I feel very encouraged to begin doing limited editions like this for each month. So, stay tuned as I will be choosing my print for Novemeber soon! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In conclusion, I am absolutely obsessed with tea painting and can't wait to share my adventures with it as an art medium. More updates soon! Keep a look out on <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/lucidopticlab"><b>my etsy shop</b></a>, as I am posting my newly finished tea paintings for sale and they are going quick.</div>

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
In August I took a trip to California to see family, friends and to get arty farty.I was able to document most of my art adventures and I would like to take a moment to share them with you!<br />
I did a "Meet the Artist" pop up live painting event inside <a href="http://mysticjourneybookstore.com/"><b>Mystic Journey Bookstore</b></a> in my hometown, Venice Beach.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/744/20773576943_38cbf7c421.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="399" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/744/20773576943_38cbf7c421.jpg" width="400" /></a> </div>
I just loved painting in their patio garden! It was a warm evening with a nice breeze, I was surrounded by big buddha statues and some of the biggest crystals I had ever seen. People trickled through and I had a wonderful time painting and talking to everyone.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/596/21383855872_11cfa8c8cb_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="399" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/596/21383855872_11cfa8c8cb_z.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
The painting I was working on is inspired by the Triple Goddess: Maiden, Mother Crone. I depicted each aspect of the trinity, but as mermaids.<br />
<br />
I have not finished the painting yet but here are some progress photos taken during my live painting:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5671/20772020054_dcd0a33f49_o.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="396" src="https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5671/20772020054_dcd0a33f49_o.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5707/21550467430_660d8d18d0.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5707/21550467430_660d8d18d0.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So yes….I am looking forward to finding some time to finish this one up. I will post an entry when its all done! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I had a couple tables set up full of artly goodness like small original paintings on wood, stretched canvas prints, button pins, stickers and more:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5618/21551933399_0416337efd.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5618/21551933399_0416337efd.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/632/21551936339_52efd81a75.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/632/21551936339_52efd81a75.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
See something you have to have. See if you can nab it in <a href="http://www.etsy.com/lucidopticlab"><b>my etsy shop</b></a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/695/21738791915_ee758f4d63.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/695/21738791915_ee758f4d63.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The next art adventure took place in the Arts district of Downtown LA. I met up with my friend and fellow artist<b> <a href="http://humansmakeart.com/home.html">Jennifer Korsen</a></b> at her studio and we proceeded to paint a super secret collaborative mural in the Alleyway:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/571/21207817579_e7a1e81b6e.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/571/21207817579_e7a1e81b6e.jpg" width="285" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
work in progress photo</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
finished photo</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My final art adventure took me to San Diego California to a place called <a href="http://www.writerzblok.com/"><b>Writerz Blok</b></a>. Its a community art space with a huge lot full of walls covered tip to tail in spray paint that are open to any artists interested in leaving their mark. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And so I did...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5659/21206646850_2b7ffa14c9_o.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5659/21206646850_2b7ffa14c9_o.png" width="397" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Work in progress, laying down base colors</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/692/21383888762_4739b0dfed.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/692/21383888762_4739b0dfed.jpg" width="397" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Fine tuning with highlights and shadow</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/671/21394746275_121c24a2a5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="327" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/671/21394746275_121c24a2a5.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Got the outlines in and now its all done!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5632/21206902428_82c826b88c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="315" src="https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5632/21206902428_82c826b88c.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So there is a glimpse into my arty shenanigans during my Cali trip. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Watch a video I made with footage from the trip on my You Tube Channel,<a href="https://youtu.be/xeC1D2KuKno"> <b>Here</b></a>. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

I did a custom body painting for local Pacific Northwest small business owner, Janet Brent also known as The E-Book queen. She wanted whimsical and wild self portraits that would serve a duel purpose: 1st and foremost to be expressive personal treasure in the form of body art portrait photography and 2nd, to serve as alluring and powerful tools in the marketing of her business. </div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #232d32; font-family: 'Open Sans', helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 24px; padding: 0px; white-space: pre-line;">

<div style="background-color: white; color: #232d32; font-family: 'Open Sans', helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 24px; padding: 0px; white-space: pre-line;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #232d32; font-family: 'Open Sans', helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 24px; padding: 0px; white-space: pre-line;">

<div style="background-color: white; color: #232d32; font-family: 'Open Sans', helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 24px; padding: 0px; white-space: pre-line;">

<div style="background-color: white; color: #232d32; font-family: 'Open Sans', helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 24px; padding: 0px; white-space: pre-line;">

I love working with people to create custom body art portraits. I view these sort of projects as a collaboration between myself and my client model. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/764/21151806976_a780c0f427_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/764/21151806976_a780c0f427_b.jpg" width="267" /></a></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #232d32; font-family: 'Open Sans', helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 24px; padding: 0px; white-space: pre-line;">

<div style="background-color: white; color: #232d32; font-family: 'Open Sans', helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 24px; padding: 0px; white-space: pre-line;">
I had very few perimeters to try and fit within. All Janet really required was that I use gold and purple body paint to create with and that she be photographed at the coast. </div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #232d32; font-family: 'Open Sans', helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 24px; padding: 0px; white-space: pre-line;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #232d32; font-family: 'Open Sans', helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 24px; padding: 0px; white-space: pre-line;">
I released a youtube video all about this particular art adventure. So feel free to view that on<a href="https://youtu.be/yyXnGIuDo-I"> My Youtube Channel</a>.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #232d32; font-family: 'Open Sans', helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 24px; padding: 0px; white-space: pre-line;">
And Here is a beautifully written account of our art adventure by my client model, Janet:</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #232d32; font-family: 'Open Sans', helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 24px; padding: 0px; white-space: pre-line;">
"Dark and light must be embraced as one. We started the photoshoot in darkness with Chelsea Rose as my artist and photographer. I was painted and covered in gold with a single lantern light in a tent, on the beach starting at around 2am. The drive up to the coast was clear skies and the stars were showing its faces over dark country roads. I think I even saw the Milky Way. I was reminded of the time I saw a meteor shower with pitch black night and zero light pollution. The sky was as clear as the amazing meteor shower I had witnessed in my youth. Every few seconds, a star was falling, shooting it's light across the sky...Some stars would fall in synch. Together, they were dancing. ////</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #232d32; font-family: 'Open Sans', helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 24px; padding: 0px; white-space: pre-line;">
I emerged like a caterpillar. From its cocoon after sunrise. Crawling out of the tent covered in gold and purple body paint, to symbolize the inner warrior queen and goddess within me. The tribal/ethnic vibe was what I was going for. The earthy, grounded, rooted energy of mama earth and nature. What better way to celebrate the Queen in me than on the Oregon coast. //// I thought we would be going to Cannon Beach. All this time, I thought our location was where the Goonies had been filmed but it turns out that my artist/photographer had Oceanside in mind. However, a wrong turn on the country roads put us right towards Cannon Beach and a 40minute delay towards the location they had had in mind. I guess the Universe had other plans. Cannon Beach it was! And I couldn't be happier. I loved the location and setting. I love the preview pictures I've seen so far. ////</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #232d32; font-family: 'Open Sans', helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 24px; padding: 0px; white-space: pre-line;">
In my journey, I have tried so hard to find my 'higher self', my Queen, my Goddess Wild Woman that I had ignored the lower-self, the shadow self, for years. I tried to sweep her under the rug. In reality, I needed to hug her and embrace my lower and higher self as one. It is the darkness that informs the light. It is the light that informs the dark. What a wonderful journey to encapsulate all this than on the beach from darkness to light. Gratitude for Chelsea Rose Arts to be part of my journey and for celebrating the dark and light in all of us. Thank you! Namaste." - Janet Brent</div>

So without further adieu:</div>

"The Long Ride Home"<br />
12"x16"<br />
Original acrylic painting on canvas<br />
by Chelsea Rose<br />
<br />
This painting is the first in a series I plan to make involving placing my strange creature ladies in fairly mundane places/doing fairly mundane things. Such as, this first piece, commuting home on a train. Other ideas include waiting at bus stops, eating at a restaurant, working an office job, taking a bath and so on. I have sketches of many of these ideas at the ready, I just need to buckle down and begin to pump out paintings for this series.<br />
<br />
Now, since I am a fiend for work in progress photos I will share the creative process involved in the production of "The Long Ride Home." Enjoy!<br />
<br /></div>
<a href="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/395/19782296370_776366b7d2.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/395/19782296370_776366b7d2.jpg" width="400" /></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
It all began with a rough concept sketch in my drawing book. I felt confident enough with it that I went ahead and projected my sketch onto to canvas and proceeded to transfer it (using an india ink marker) while adding more dimension and detail.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/500/19347653024_a97b266877.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a></div>
<a href="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/500/19347653024_a97b266877.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/500/19347653024_a97b266877.jpg" width="400" /></a><a href="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/442/19349299543_a784d70c18.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/442/19349299543_a784d70c18.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
I then began to add the first layers of color. I hadn't done a color study for this painting so I was making up the color scheme as I went along which was mostly fun, but a bit nerve racking at times.<br />
<br /></div>
<a href="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/431/19970307495_0b38b3dd1c.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/431/19970307495_0b38b3dd1c.jpg" width="400" /></a>
<a href="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/400/19782311170_7b5abdeedd.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/400/19782311170_7b5abdeedd.jpg" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
<a href="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/500/19782320580_ac97eff10c_o.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/500/19782320580_ac97eff10c_o.jpg" width="400" /></a><br />
By the time I went through with my 2nd layer of color I had made some big decisions about the interior of the train car as well as the outside sky/cityscape. My favorite movie of all time is a Studio Ghibli animation called "Spirited Away" and if you are a fan of the film, you should be able to tell right away that I recreated my own interpretation of the iconic red seated, wood interior train. If you have yet to see this movie, you must go watch it. Now! Seriously…<br />
I also changed the sky to a dusky/sunsety affair, while pushing the city scape farther back.<br />
<br /></div>
<a href="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/470/19944067346_4ae5e86bb5.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/470/19944067346_4ae5e86bb5.jpg" width="400" /></a><br />
During the final layers of color I added small details like her leg hair and shoes.<br />
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3685/19349317233_3c7f4b2cf5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3685/19349317233_3c7f4b2cf5.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>

<br />
And to cap off these work in progress photos, here is a nice wide look into my lil art factory.<br />
<br />
I think my next painting in this new series of mine is going to be one of my creature ladies eating a bowl of ramen at a lil restaurant.</div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOkqT5Ak5wlBwGaMPeHCb85_9FdseBaPRTitmrIy2RGReQFWqt0ocAbukZ6HF-RoVLMJsbMtu-5xaS-Yxq4OUD5sykvc1yM7j7iwcp9ivbuvdy5l28S92IyFUOje9p_jA-q-19VzvTgoY/s1600/Screen+Shot+2015-07-26+at+4.10.47+PM.png" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="318" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOkqT5Ak5wlBwGaMPeHCb85_9FdseBaPRTitmrIy2RGReQFWqt0ocAbukZ6HF-RoVLMJsbMtu-5xaS-Yxq4OUD5sykvc1yM7j7iwcp9ivbuvdy5l28S92IyFUOje9p_jA-q-19VzvTgoY/s320/Screen+Shot+2015-07-26+at+4.10.47+PM.png" width="320" /></a>
<br />
Here is a lil sketch of the ramen painting concept. Next step is to select a canvas and get to work projecting my sketch onto it so that I can begin to paint. I will keep you posted on its progress.<br />
<br />
Much love and light,<br />

I can feel myself evolving as a Muralist with each new project and thus I certainly had a blast creating my most recent mural:</div>
</div>
</div>
<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3821/18845254472_78a10cbc0f.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="235" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3821/18845254472_78a10cbc0f.jpg" width="400" /></a><br />
The above was commissioned by a local Portland Oregon patron of the arts who gave me complete creative control of a section of the bedroom in his new home.<br />
<br />
It all started with a concept sketch:</div>
<a href="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5573/18662685740_40604a27ef.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="258" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5573/18662685740_40604a27ef.jpg" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
Once the concept sketch was approved by the patron I began work on the wall:</div>
</div>
<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3762/18662669910_9c81249f0e.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="306" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3762/18662669910_9c81249f0e.jpg" width="400" /></a><br />
I started by using a paint marker to rough out the concept sketch directly on the wall.<br />
<br />
And then I started mapping out the color!<br />
<a href="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5326/18845225542_2b4a7575b9_o.png" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="397" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5326/18845225542_2b4a7575b9_o.png" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
And then cleaning it all up with some fine details</div>
</div>
</div>
<a href="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5531/18227773774_fe668ff643.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="398" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5531/18227773774_fe668ff643.jpg" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3739/18824110266_eb22fb4bc7.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3739/18824110266_eb22fb4bc7.jpg" width="398" /></a>
<br />
<br />
All done! </div>
<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3823/18664192329_b59afb4ffa.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="330" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3823/18664192329_b59afb4ffa.jpg" width="400" /></a>
<br />
What am I doing in this photo you ask? Why, I am being a tree lady too! Wasn't it obvious?<br />
<br />
Is your bedroom next? Got a nursery or living room that could use some color? How about the chicken coop or the shed out back? <a href="mailto:lucidopticlab@yahoo.com"><b>Contact me</b></a> if you are interested in talking about commissioning a mural!<br />
<br />
Hope you enjoyed seeing my creative process in the creation of this project.<br />
<br />
I have plenty of other things to show you soon, namely this past weekend I finished a custom commissioned body painting portrait session. Photos and details on that will be posted soon.<br />
<br />
Much love,<br />

<br />
P.S<br />
<br />
I will be in SoCal come August, so if you are interested in commissioning a mural or body painting portrait session and you are out that ways, don't hesitate to set something up with me.</div>

As you may know from my previous post, I was given a contract via community run origination, <a href="http://www.albertaartworks.org/"><b>Alberta Art Works</b> </a>to paint two benches in the Alberta Arts district of Portland Oregon. I scored an art easement via <a href="http://www.albertaartworks.org/"><b>Alberta Art Works</b></a> to paint two benches infront of Anna Bananas in the Alberta arts district of Portland Oregon. So far I have painted one of the two bench murals.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is the finished bench:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
This is a small acrylic concept painting on paper that <a href="http://www.albertaartworks.org/"><b>Alberta Art Works</b></a> approved for painting</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I then prepped the bench surface with primer and began to lay a base coat of color down with acrylic spray paint. Once that was dry I began to line out the mural with a paint brush.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7614/17218167905_e6b61eac38.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7614/17218167905_e6b61eac38.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then I began to block in all the colors, highlights and shadow.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7587/17030644870_34c7d03629.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7587/17030644870_34c7d03629.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Lastly, I added detail and went back over with black refining the lines. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I also made a lil video out of footage Danny took of me painting the bench. Check out that vid <a href="https://youtu.be/sEDGH8_ZUyQ"><b style="background-color: white;"><span style="color: #6aa84f;">here</span></b></a> on my youtube channel. Hope you enjoy!<br />
<br />
Big thanks to <a href="http://www.albertaartworks.org/"><b>Alberta Art Works</b></a> for facilitating this mural project.<a href="http://collagepdx.blogspot.com/"> <b>Collage</b></a>, thank you for donating the mural paint! And thank you, <b><a href="http://www.annabannanas.com/">Anna Bannanas</a> </b>for the wonderful community atmosphere on that lil corner of PDX.<br />
<br />
I will be painting my 2nd bench mural next Saturday and I can hardly wait! I will be sure to take lots of photos and video to share with you, so stay tuned.<br />

The opening was last night, and I had a blast. The gallery was packed full of some really wonderfully created Big Foot tribute pieces by many of my favorite local Portland Oregon artists.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
In the same show I was also super excited about showing off a collaborative piece I did with a local artist/mad scientist/friend:</div>
</div>

Meet "Lady Big Foot" a collaborative art doll by myself and<b> <a href="https://instagram.com/doktorcreature/">Doktor Creature</a></b>. The general design is inspired by my "Signal Fire" big foot ladies in the painting above. The good Doktor did most of the work, including sculpting the face and felting the entire body. I painted the face sculpture and the drawer that he placed her within for display. I adore the way she came out and I can hardly wait to create more collaborative art dolls!</div>

My "Leo" also titled "Bast, Keeper of the Meadow" is on the left, while Darci's "Capricorn" is to the right and in the middle a super lovely "Pieces" painting by an artist we both admire, <a href="http://lisawilde.tumblr.com/"><b>Lisa Wilde</b></a>. </div>

As much as I have been inspired and driven by all the group theme art shows I have been participating in, I am looking forward to focusing more energy in the next month or two on painting series concepts I have been planning out in my sketch book for some time. So keep an eye on my <a href="https://instagram.com/lucidrose"><b>IG</b></a> and<b> <a href="https://www.facebook.com/ChelseaRoseArts">FB</a></b> for updates on my new works in progress. </div>

"Mother of Faces"<br />
16"x20"<br />
original acrylic painting on canvas<br />
by Chelsea Rose<br />
<br />
This painting is inspired by “The Mother Of Faces” a spirit who only appears in the Avatar Last Air Bender graphic novel “The Search.” As with many of the characters in the Avatar world, Mother of faces is a fascinating and strong female archetype (IE: Compassionate Mother Protector and Gentle Giant) that shows great heart and generosity while still commanding respect and awe. The mother’s ability to emerge and become mightier than the very mountains around her sacred pool was especially inspiring to me. I enjoyed exploring and expressing her tremendous scale within my painting, while also aiming to capture her surreal beauty and grace. As an artist, I usually gravitate to subject matter related to the sacred feminine, warrior women, and the paranormal or metaphysical. I saw all of these things in The Mother of Faces and felt she would lend herself well to my painting approach as well as my existing body of work.<br />
<br />
And...It all started with a pen and ink sketch:<br />
<br /></div>
</div>
</div>
<a href="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8578/16357597197_3820ac1f72_b.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8578/16357597197_3820ac1f72_b.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Once I had the pen and ink sketch I projected it onto canvas and then began to load the canvas with color.<br />
<br />
And then today I added the final touches:<br />
<br /></div>
<a href="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8573/16357596937_28798c5ee5_o.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8573/16357596937_28798c5ee5_o.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I was in a bit of a rush to create this because only a few weeks ago did I realize that there was an open call to artists for the<b> <a href="http://www.gallerynucleus.com/gallery/exhibition/462">Legend of Korra / Avatar: Last Air Bender Tribute Exhibition</a></b> showing at <a href="http://www.gallerynucleus.com/gallery"><b>Gallery Nucleus</b> </a>in early March. The deadline for art submissions is Feb. 20th. Yikes! I submitted my painting today and I am crossing my fingers that they pick mine to exhibit( they are only choosing 15 pieces of art from all of the open call submissions. Eeep!)<br />
<br />
In other news, I am currently working on creating a astrology sign series which has been lots of fun so far. I began working on the series because I am going to be a featured artist for <a href="http://www.splendorporium.net/"><b>Splendorporium</b></a>'s March show, which is Zodiac themed. I am also working on a painting for an upcoming "Sasquatch" themed group show at<a href="http://goodpdx.com/"> <b>Good Gallery</b></a>, opening in March. Oh! And, I will be doing a month long art install at The Bike Bar during March. Soooo, March is shaping up to be a pretty busy month! No complaints here. More updates and photos soon.<br />
<br />
Much love and light,<br />

When I was a little girl I was obsessed with the cartoon Sailor Moon. In the mornings before school I would watch it on TV while eating breakfast. It began a life long appreciation for anime, comics and alien warrior princesses which ultimately contributed to the development of my artistic style. To my extreme delight, for the 20th anniversary of Sailor Moon, a new version was released in 2014 called "<a href="http://sailormoon-official.com/animation/characters/moon.php"><b>Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal</b></a>." This new release rekindled my obsession with the anime series and so I couldn't help but do a little fan art tribute.<br />
<br />
It started with this pen and ink drawing in my sketchbook:<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0pB6lJ8AZBxRbTur9wzU6XZb97O7D8NkyCDf0XhSE8CJwFCjJk47AoHjPEdFyn6IHTCrXqZpD5lPo3BtcY-Rw3Zn19jEmeGb9arusoGMzfSc_R15e7Vk5N66ibDMBegJfNqmce8AmL6I/s1600/Screen+Shot+2015-01-10+at+8.01.05+PM.png" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0pB6lJ8AZBxRbTur9wzU6XZb97O7D8NkyCDf0XhSE8CJwFCjJk47AoHjPEdFyn6IHTCrXqZpD5lPo3BtcY-Rw3Zn19jEmeGb9arusoGMzfSc_R15e7Vk5N66ibDMBegJfNqmce8AmL6I/s1600/Screen+Shot+2015-01-10+at+8.01.05+PM.png" height="385" width="400" /></a>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I was pretty excited with how the sketch came out so I decided to do a painting based on it:</div>

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
What with the Holiday's and all I have recently found some time to get back into experimenting with spray painting. Earlier this month I drove down to the<b> <a href="http://dailyemerald.com/2014/01/16/eugene-seeks-to-curb-graffiti-violations-by-providing-tagging-walls-downtown/">Eugene Oregon free wall</a></b> with friends and had a blast painting:<br />
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7504/15846543419_e9bc9b7d27_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7504/15846543419_e9bc9b7d27_o.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I started with this piece, inspired by my previous acrylic painting on canvas called The Seed which you can view or purchase a print of <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/190430980/the-seed-85x11-fine-art-print?ref=shop_home_active_19"><b>here</b></a>. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8605/15846854827_87a454cfda_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8605/15846854827_87a454cfda_b.jpg" width="350" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here it is finished. It took about an hour and a half. I was pretty happy with it, but still abel to see things that I could improve upon…especially line weight control.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7496/15845129518_6a4bd45243_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="267" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7496/15845129518_6a4bd45243_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I started on one last piece and did it in a about 30 mins because it was getting pretty cold outside and my fingers were starting to go a bit numb.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8662/15846840457_7b007d7101_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8662/15846840457_7b007d7101_b.jpg" width="290" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This spEYEn character has been one of my most popular drawings and most commissioned designs in recent times, so I thought to give it a try in my new favorite medium, spray painting. I had a lot of fun doing the shading on the body and butt with the various colors. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I took a bunch of footage of the experience and made it into a short video. Watch it on my youtube channel: <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBzpaZioAug&list=UUF8CfN93mBhRAQjeX1btdPA"><b>YouTube.com/ChelseaRoseArts</b></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
….And it turns out it was really good that I got some spray painting practice in because the following week I got the opportunity to do some spray painting in California with<b> <a href="http://humansmakeart.com/home.html">Jennifer Korsen</a></b>, a female spray paint muralist that I admire.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7514/16121218322_af9828ed48_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="246" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7514/16121218322_af9828ed48_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Jennifer took me to one of her favorite places to paint called "<a href="https://www.tumblr.com/search/fameyard"><b>The Fame Yard</b></a>" which has some truly awesome artwork on the walls. I was honored and a little intimidated to paint at first but Jennifer was very encouraging and the space was so inspiring that I couldn't help but grab my paint cans and give it a go. So here we are, in the photo above, a couple hours into our paint session, happily painting the day away.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I was excited to see a bit of progress with my line weight and can control. My technique still needs a lot of work but practice makes perfect! </div>

Back in September I managed to squeeze one more Earth Goddess body painting in before the season got cold and altogether not conducive for body art modeling and photography. And it was my first and probably only couple's photoshoot that I will be including in my series.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7501/15784288687_41ac05f2eb_c.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="234" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7501/15784288687_41ac05f2eb_c.jpg" width="400" /></a>
<br />
(Work in progress shot, painting Kelly.) Also, please read the <a href="http://fearisa4letterword.org/2014/11/07/embracing-full-nudity-and-the-art-of-chelsea-rose/"><b>blog entry</b></a> she wrote, reflecting upon what it was like participating in my body art series as well as her thoughts and feelings about body image and learning to love the skin your in.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAdUYAhaiJ3oXrg1LPgcYgo3ej7EUl4W32K3NMKDIAudV2gUUw9-dXA5X71LqZJev2I0krPBQXG2DP1PDmOSOj-Zk5Dd1K6uUsADSHLLu8cHjy2gaKN4wd7loWJ67liXjEaVcIGJSWS8E/s1600/Kellybpwip1.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAdUYAhaiJ3oXrg1LPgcYgo3ej7EUl4W32K3NMKDIAudV2gUUw9-dXA5X71LqZJev2I0krPBQXG2DP1PDmOSOj-Zk5Dd1K6uUsADSHLLu8cHjy2gaKN4wd7loWJ67liXjEaVcIGJSWS8E/s320/Kellybpwip1.jpg" /></a>
<br />
(work in progress shot, painting Sam)<br />
<br />
My friends Kelly and Sam have been through something remarkable together. If you spend anytime with them, the way they are around each other, the way they speak, laugh and feel would make it plain as day that they are strong and more importantly, made stronger by their love of one another and the life they chose together.<br />
<br />
When Kelly was diagnosed with cancer her life and the life of her wife, Sam, began to change.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8628/15347737554_c6c0b42ee6_b.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8628/15347737554_c6c0b42ee6_b.jpg" width="317" /></a><br />
<br />
They are still on a journey of healing and I was honored to momentarily step in and take part when they asked if they could be painted and photographed together for my Earth Goddess series to commemorate the end of Kelly's chemo treatment.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7487/15784291767_9a1eab1858_b.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7487/15784291767_9a1eab1858_b.jpg" width="280" /></a>
<br />
<br />
I think that these photos do catch a glimmer of their experience, and their exuberance for eachother but I feel they also speak about the condition of Mother Earth. I often feel that the prevalence of cancer and the many other diseases plaguing mankind can also be seen reflected by the condition of the Earth as it battles to remain balanced in the face of pollution, deforestation, genetic modification and more. Many people believe that the Earth is too big to fail, that our actions are insignificant to the planet's health but there is plenty of evidence that begs to differ.<br />
As above so below.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOmwBXJ2gz-QD1UGl3wJlajMU1ge6BmOThkj1ablfXU5qMT5IPno6uemmKb9Bd5ggBtlr85TxFjddoihuNnUb8Z4__cyKZ0vgepmiJFyYzb4NtrlXkKdODi0zh5U8bCIf4aJkh2Y_B26A/s1600/kellysamhands.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOmwBXJ2gz-QD1UGl3wJlajMU1ge6BmOThkj1ablfXU5qMT5IPno6uemmKb9Bd5ggBtlr85TxFjddoihuNnUb8Z4__cyKZ0vgepmiJFyYzb4NtrlXkKdODi0zh5U8bCIf4aJkh2Y_B26A/s320/kellysamhands.jpg" /></a>
<br />
<br />
And all I know is, the path of healing is most effective when loving, helping hands are there to lend support. In these photos I can glimpse Mother Earth's own journey towards healing, which of course is guided by her lovers, her protectors.<br />
<br />
And so must it be.<br />
<br />
With Love and Light,<br />

This painting was a nice change in subject matter/intention then my usual art. I was still able to paint the sacred feminine, but did so in a setting and environment that expressed my own unease and misgivings about mankind's disregard for the planet we inhabit.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These three mini paintings were created as a mini series expressing three major issues that women face in global society. I chose the issues of War, Inequality and Rape Culture. It was important for me to try and show a verity of ethnicity in these three paintings which I feel I managed to accomplish by featuring a Middle Eastern woman, a Black woman and a White woman.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here they are drying on my easel: </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And here are some photos from the art opening:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here I am posing by one of my protestor mini paintings. The opening was a day before Halloween so I wore my dreadlocks in Sailor Moon style hair buns.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And I had to take a photo of this lady dressed as one of my all-time favorite female artists, Frida Khalo, as she sat below my "Devastated" painting.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As you can see by these small sections of wall in the photos, there was sooo much art on those walls, it was practically floor to ceiling.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The show is still up, and will remain so till the first of December, so go check it out! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And then I have one painting in the "Bling" show at<a href="http://www.splendorporium.net/"> <b>Splendorporium Gallery</b></a>:</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am also working on my five paintings for the<a href="https://www.facebook.com/events/665465280241506/"> <b>Big 500 show</b></a>, opening Dec.13th.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And if you are looking for an opportunity to buy a bunch of prints, or original art from me you will have the chance to do so at the 6th annual Splendorcraft gift sale, where I will be sharing a booth space with <b><a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/PnkRockMe">Silly Weird Things</a></b>. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And of course I got all dressed up for Halloween: </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7479/15696009132_3260ce0b0a_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7479/15696009132_3260ce0b0a_b.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This year my costume was inspired by the Celtic nature god, the Green Man.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
and I also painted a pumpkin:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7562/15670700666_08d7f1791c_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7562/15670700666_08d7f1791c_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My pumpkin painting was inspired by the Cheshire Cat, of course!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So thats that, I hope everyone had a spooktacular Halloween and managed to dressed up and ate too much sweets. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

In preparation for my solo show back in September I had feverishly painted a ridiculous amount of new and small, thus affordable, art works to sprinkle on the walls in-between my big expensive pieces. A lot of these lil ones found homes, but I still have some left. I have been slowly adding a few pieces each week to my etsy shop and now I have a nice group of small original and affordable paintings listed in <a href="http://www.lucidopticlab.etsy.com/"><b>my etsy shop</b></a>. So check out these new pieces of art:</div>

I realize the holidays are coming up which is a great excuse to buy and share art with loved ones. Consider buying handmade this year, its good for the world and surely its good for the soul.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I have been getting involved in more group shows lately. I find themed shows very helpful in challenging me to draw and paint outside of my usual conceptual directions. One such recent group show that I participated in was a Tarot card themed art show at<b> <a href="http://www.splendorporium.net/">Splendorporium</a></b> Gallery in Portland Oregon. I have always been drawn to Tarot cards and other divination tools so I was super stoked to pick a Tarot card to paint in my own style.<br />
<br />
I chose to do The High Priestess Card:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzaTbH6wGDOUZthZN2ujZE57vMjslk4onVjIPJhDFn-FHpsyxUbREzsDGIr37rq1A1S8VHEhvTnt4F2Z_eBTSWWVYAzIexhbpNL6OvEj27ubOxlfm6wI9yw-CftNREuW7BCqYfvdHKZHc/s1600/Screen+Shot+2014-10-18+at+10.57.32+AM.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzaTbH6wGDOUZthZN2ujZE57vMjslk4onVjIPJhDFn-FHpsyxUbREzsDGIr37rq1A1S8VHEhvTnt4F2Z_eBTSWWVYAzIexhbpNL6OvEj27ubOxlfm6wI9yw-CftNREuW7BCqYfvdHKZHc/s1600/Screen+Shot+2014-10-18+at+10.57.32+AM.png" height="395" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
(9"x12" Original acrylic painting on wood cut by Chelsea Rose)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is what a standard High Priestess card looks like: </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhT01EvqDezABmttSkI9WZ8iR6-FHacPVKfV-cYZWSMiMvKbot9zOJoB-ckRbmlPW2RND-MnhHTi0E15Ycq-5QniXSQD7Xo_4d3hMoV78LSmq9HIbLg7CVUBAr7gsmPIjPTo7Y1_zl9aVU/s1600/Screen+Shot+2014-10-18+at+11.25.01+AM.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhT01EvqDezABmttSkI9WZ8iR6-FHacPVKfV-cYZWSMiMvKbot9zOJoB-ckRbmlPW2RND-MnhHTi0E15Ycq-5QniXSQD7Xo_4d3hMoV78LSmq9HIbLg7CVUBAr7gsmPIjPTo7Y1_zl9aVU/s1600/Screen+Shot+2014-10-18+at+11.25.01+AM.png" height="320" width="184" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So yes, I took a LOT of liberties in making this card my own. But I did keep some aspects the same, like my Priestess( who bares a striking resemblance to the caterpillar from Wonderland) is blue, while the card has the priestess in blue robes. My priestess also sits on a throne of sorts, but they are huge purple mushrooms. I also incorporated the black and white towers into my painting. And instead of having my priestess hold the Tora, I have her holding another book of knowledge that has a down pointing triangle( which is a symbol of the sacred feminine) which I adorned with an all seeing eye. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
All in all, it was a great deal of fun getting to research the meaning behind all the symbols present in the card and It has me really considering doing an entire Tarot deck in my style!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And here are a couple photos from the opening reception at the gallery: </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFf10bQS-7asFLNIwSefltHqRMG_O8duuNfxRa4gcvHoutA6-3dS5tC7VQtKdMU76hMWwsqvUDeE6SfCaBGunDNAmqh6Oi8EyhRCB848wd3JE7f8hEUgk9CQi6fgqOevEKtSoqb9Vd6rA/s1600/Screen+Shot+2014-10-18+at+10.56.47+AM.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFf10bQS-7asFLNIwSefltHqRMG_O8duuNfxRa4gcvHoutA6-3dS5tC7VQtKdMU76hMWwsqvUDeE6SfCaBGunDNAmqh6Oi8EyhRCB848wd3JE7f8hEUgk9CQi6fgqOevEKtSoqb9Vd6rA/s1600/Screen+Shot+2014-10-18+at+10.56.47+AM.png" height="400" width="397" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It was very interesting to see other people's interpretations of various Tarot cards. Some were literal kinda like mine because they incorporated some of the traditional symbols from the cards, and others were very abstract. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is a photo of my friend <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/PnkRockMe"><b>Darci, Silly.Wierd.Things</b></a> card:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
She did "The Moon" Tarot Card and I think it came out beautifully in her style. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And here I am with my painting at the opening reception. As usual I am too short to manage a photo with my art that is not entirely awkward :) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
I am FINALLY getting around to posting about the body painting and photo shoot for my <b><a href="http://lucidrose.blogspot.com/p/earth-goddess-body-art-series-by.html">Earth Goddess series</a> </b>that I completed back in August!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This was the 14th body painting I have completed for my Earth Goddess series. I had such a wonderful time with my model as we picnicked and painted on the bank of the Columbia River Gorge in one of Oregon's clothing optional state parks, Rooster Rock. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As usual it took me around 4 hours to do the full body painting. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here are some of the finished photos from the shoot: </div>

My model, being an adventurous soul, was most willing to get into the water for some shots. I love the results! And I am SUPER excited to learn that the body paint held up relatively well in the water and so now I am dreaming of an entire new "Water Goddess" series. But I am getting a little ahead of myself. I feel I am pretty much finished with my Earth Goddess series so now I must get serious about finding a gallery that will show the finished images, and also start putting together a book for self publishing. </div>

The body painting took a lil over four hours to complete. My model Caitlin Sparkle Jackson was very patient and sweet about it. I was very happy to be working with her one last time before she moved to Hawaii at the end of this month. She is one of the most fearless models I have had the pleasure of working with. (Our first shoot together was for my Earth Goddess body art series, where she ended up posing in nothing but my body paint, in the snow! That takes guts! Photos of that shoot can be seen <b><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/lucidrose/12426457113/in/set-72157628041032033">here</a>.</b>)</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Once the body painting was complete we began to shoot, using my art show inside Future Shock gallery as a background environment.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here are some finished photos:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3923/15340037301_dc8acbee4c_b.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3923/15340037301_dc8acbee4c_b.jpg" width="288" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This one might be my favorite shot, despite the fact that it does not show off all of the body paint. I think I am especially loving this photo because she is completely surrounded by my big acrylic painting "<a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/197838590/the-last-mermaid-85x11-giclee-print?ref=shop_home_active_23"><b>The Last Mermaid</b></a>" so it gives the sense that she IS one of my goddess creature ladies who has just stepped right out of one of my paintings.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3896/15156452609_ba2cac3df6_b.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3896/15156452609_ba2cac3df6_b.jpg" width="285" /></a>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3848/15340038221_0b8bf32505_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><img border="0" height="261" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3848/15340038221_0b8bf32505_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It was not intentional, but I had a few people tell me that the body painting reminded them of Kali, the Hindu goddess of change. I could not agree more! Between the blueness of her face, Caitlin's dark curly hair, and her head dress( she said she bought it at Country Fair and that its a hand made piece by Neman's Commedia Mask) she really does resemble Kali in some ways. After looking at the photos I stopped on this shot, where, to the right of Caitlin is my own acrylic painting interruption of Kali which I call <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/lucidrose/8328335636/in/set-72157610826099576">Goddess of Eternal Change</a>. I love the synchronicity!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3870/15340038471_b9fec6f2b7_b.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3870/15340038471_b9fec6f2b7_b.jpg" width="400" /></a>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
All in all, we had a blast and I am very happy with the colorful results. I hope you enjoy these photos also.</div>

So my art opening at <a href="http://www.futureshockpdx.com/"><b>Future Shock</b></a> was lots of fun and I wanted to share some photos of it with you!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5557/15192604681_271f31b569_o.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="267" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5557/15192604681_271f31b569_o.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here I am a bit gussied up for the opening night, posing with my mermaid door painting before the show started.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And here are some photos of the walls before it got crowded:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3856/15009074918_bf952f0f7b_b.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="245" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3856/15009074918_bf952f0f7b_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The artwork was hung by<a href="http://www.dannyebru.com/"> <b>Danny Ebru</b></a>, who has a fantastic eye for arranging and displaying art. He also took these photos. Thanks boo!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3925/15009069357_10d0994236_b.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="267" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3925/15009069357_10d0994236_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The show featured 55 of my original paintings.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3881/15192633541_f4a6e8d071_b.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3881/15192633541_f4a6e8d071_b.jpg" width="335" /></a>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Out of the 55 paintings displayed, 8 of them were collaborative works with other local Portland Oregon artists who are dear to my heart. The photo above, shows the "collab" section of the show featuring collaborations I did with<b> <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/PnkRockMe">Darci (Silly Weird Things)</a></b>, <a href="http://www.dannyebru.com/"><b>Danny Ebru</b></a>, <b><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/skamsticker/">SKAM</a> </b>and <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/rxskulls/"><b>RX Skulls</b></a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5589/15008860749_d9d0e98e57_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="296" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5589/15008860749_d9d0e98e57_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Out of the 55 paintings, 27 of them were newly created pieces, most of which I had kept hidden from the world as I feverishly painted them the month before the show.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3859/15008860649_308e241f31_b.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="250" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3859/15008860649_308e241f31_b.jpg" width="400" /></a>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I was very excited to get to debut so much new stuff at the art opening! The remaining paintings on display were "select works" from previous years that I felt deserved more time in the spotlight.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3846/15009069427_f9e28cfea0_b.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="267" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3846/15009069427_f9e28cfea0_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The new and old paintings were intermixed on the walls which I was initially a little nervous about, but in the end I think it worked out really well.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyWsh-yJnQ0ugXE-USwJ15VlixjM1y3i9sqWQgNO_Wiynn1UEfvnJ-deqKnqmGsweQ_OI-NuqphcSIVDxpc3umxqBMzRv0o3HSJ2TO-yw2IQj_cdU3mCyG8ovmcktnT0TAVh4JGhB_ML0/s1600/Screen+Shot+2014-09-13+at+12.33.55+PM.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyWsh-yJnQ0ugXE-USwJ15VlixjM1y3i9sqWQgNO_Wiynn1UEfvnJ-deqKnqmGsweQ_OI-NuqphcSIVDxpc3umxqBMzRv0o3HSJ2TO-yw2IQj_cdU3mCyG8ovmcktnT0TAVh4JGhB_ML0/s1600/Screen+Shot+2014-09-13+at+12.33.55+PM.png" height="400" width="398" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
(Mike of Future Shock gets photo cred on this one!)</div>
<br />
And, though I am not sure its apparent from these photos, I was happy to hang my canvas paintings alongside vinyl records, skateboards, blocks of scrap wood, doors and other found objects that I painted. So there was also an element of using recycled material for painting on, which we butted up right next to more of my traditional "fine art" supports formats like canvas.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
What makes me even more pleased was that those that came to the show seemed to really dig the art:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

And yes, in case you were wondering... that is in fact a big <a href="http://mearone.com/"><b>MearOne</b></a> painting next to my t-shirt display. His painting guards the entry way into the Future Shock Gallery and I am honored by its presence!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It all started out with this concept sketch done on sticker paper. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3907/14846056096_ec8f46e6b8_c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3907/14846056096_ec8f46e6b8_c.jpg" width="307" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
and then paint to flesh!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3902/14868303335_7399d7223f_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3902/14868303335_7399d7223f_z.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The actual body painting took around 4 hours to do.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5552/14865238071_72a70f37c2_c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5552/14865238071_72a70f37c2_c.jpg" width="267" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My friend and model Hannah was very patient and so we had fun hanging out as I painted her on the sunny nude beach of Sauvie Island in Portland Oregon. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3910/14681726319_73e803755e_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3910/14681726319_73e803755e_z.jpg" width="433" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
By the time I was finished with the body painting, the sun was beginning to set. I loved the colors in the sky, and the overall mellow lighting produced. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5582/14865302351_a7d022d4c6_o.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5582/14865302351_a7d022d4c6_o.png" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And yes, I used creepy cat heads to censor this photo. The original was deleted by Instagram & Facebook because it violated the online communities puritanical rules against posting photos of the human body. I am deeply conflicted about having to censor my art, but using disturbing cat head stickers has made it a lil less painful. Why must society perpetuate fear and shame of the human body? Why do we treat our bodies as profane and distasteful things? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The nudity found throughout my art is an innocent, natural non sexualized nudity. And for those who find my work offensive, well get your mind out of the gutter. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And on that happy note...Much love! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

by Chelsea Rose</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It all started out with a call to artists for a Cephalopod( marine animals like octopus, squid, cuttlefish, Nautilus and more) themed group show at <a href="http://goodpdx.com/">Good: a gallery</a>. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I was instantly drawn to the Nautilus because of its amazing spiral shell. So I drew a concept sketch:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2934/14258414711_c119451ced_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2934/14258414711_c119451ced_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>

pen and ink concept sketch</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I liked my drawing enough that I quickly transferred it onto a canvas I had painted a watery background on with acrylic:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2895/14075162747_b76d7c05e8_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2895/14075162747_b76d7c05e8_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
