Body Painting Praesepe SG

I recently branched out a ways from my Earth Goddess body art series and did a colorful body painting session on the traveling SuicideGirl, Praesepe. We had so much fun!

Between tea, cookies and much fun chit chatting It took around three hours to paint her.

I painted one mermaid on the front, in addition to a third eye.

and two on the back in addition to a large floating vertical eye between her shoulders.

I am hoping to do a small series of body art photo sessions like these where I paint my creature ladies with bold color on women. I already have quite a few models who have volunteered, so It will be a nice way to do some body painting this cold rainy Pacific Northwest spring until the seasons turn and I can resume work outside on my Earth Goddess series.

In other news, I have posted a few more of my hand sculpted, hand painted art pendants for sale in my etsy shop!

Here are two of my favorites, that are up for grabs currently:

I call her "Space Empress Spiral Buns" and her third eye is a laborite bead. She is $35. See the listing for more photos.

This is a large "Third eye" which is available for $30. Check out the listing.

I have lots more to update on( including the Space Lady mural I got to paint for Sticker Nerds 3!!!) so much has happened recently I have been having a hard time finding moments to write out a post! But certainly more updates coming soon.

Much love and light,
-Chelsea

A Meeting of Minds - new acrylic painting and MORE pendants coming soon!

So I just finished my newest painting on canvas:

"A Meeting of Minds"
16"x20"
original acrylic painting by Chelsea Rose

I managed to capture a few "work in progress" shots during it's creation:

As seen above, the painting started out as a purple background vortex with a very simple sketch in India ink. I then began blocking out the background and adding more detail to the trees, beginning some of the first layers of color. By the third photo I have my first couple layers of color on, and finally almost finished just fine tuning and making final color and detail decisions.

The background took the longest for me to decide exactly what I wanted out there, but I eventually settled on the idea of lil floating metropolis islands dotting the horizon.

I rather enjoy the subtle "see through" aspect of the third eye spirit, how you can see the tree behind it and a bit of the sunset streaks that peak through its specter. I think I may try my hand at a small series of "specters in the woods" or something along those lines, because it was so much fun to paint!

Here is a peak at me in my lil art studio. This photo was taken near the end of the painting's creative process when I was debating on a few color changes, like the round fungi/grass stuff in the front being multi colored( as seen in this photo) or all one color ( like blue, in the final version.)

So now that that is done I am back to focusing on making more of my hand sculpted, hand painted art pendants:

Here are the humble beginnings of a new batch. So far I have sculpted the forms out of polymer clay, stuck stones and crystals into them, then baked them till hard. Then I coated them with an initial layer of acrylic paint and did some rough sketching to plan out the basics of their faces.

And here is the first of the batch to be finished! I will be finishing the rest and listing them on etsy this coming week. So keep an eye on my shop if you want to snatch one of these up for yourself or a loved one.

Sending Love and Light,
-Chelsea Rose

Lots of new Art thingys for sale in my etsy shop!

So, its Monday and I have stuff to share!
I played hooky from selling my art at the Portland Saturday Market over the weekend. I know, bad form indeed. But! I used my time wisely and got a lot of things done including taking product photos of a bunch of new items, and then listing said items on etsy for sale, see?

I have art pendants galore including some new sizes and shapes:

Art Pendant
(here I am modeling one of the new, bigger art pendants!)

Pretty shnazzy huh?
The new size is 1 1/4"x 1 7/8".
This pendant in particular features a print of my original acrylic painting"Mistress and the Orb" that has been sealed into a glass pendant using glaze. A silver plated medium sized bail is secured to the back with glaze so that the pendant can be worn on most any necklace/chain.
This pendant was lovingly hand made with positive intent and can also be used as a charm of sorts, stimulating your drive to explore the majestic and mysterious.
On sale in my etsy shop for $15 here.

But there is more where that came from:
New art pendants
Dread Goddess art pendant
Art Pendants
I currently have 9 art pendants available for purchase.
Check them out here!
...and more are on the way.

I also listed another giclee stretched canvas print:
Faery Guide giclee print canvas
Meet " The Faery Guide"
She is a 24"x8" Giclee stretched canvas print of my original acrylic painting.
-printed on super fine giclee canvas, all archival materials utilized. Sealed in UV protective varnish.
Bring this super vibrant print home for only $75. See the sale listing and more photos here.
A bit about the art:
"The Faery Guide emerges from the warm currents of The Cosmic Love Vibration ready to take your hand, providing safe passage between realms. However, once she spirits you past The Gate Keeper you are bided to explore with your own flaming heart and set of wings. "

I also released a few new 8"x10" art prints:
Elephantess Prints!
Featuring an 8"x10" giclee print of my most recent acrylic painting "Elephantess." Available for $15 here.

I have been selling this one, my "Bast, Keeper of the Meadow" acrylic painting exclusively in poster size...But its now available as an 8"x10" here!

I really do feel like the best thing you could possible do right now in regards to gift giving for the Holidays is to buy handmade artisan art goodies for yourself, friends and family.
Supporting independent artist and businesses is extremely important.
Please know that each purchase made from my shop is so inspiring for me. Thanks so much for the on going support, it means so much.

In other news...I am making headway on my new mermaid painting. New "work in progress photos" soon to come!

Much love and Light,

New Painting, Elephantess and print release

Just stoppin in the share my most recent finished painting:

Elephantess
"Elephantess"
Original acrylic painting by Chelsea Rose

I cant believe it took me so long to finish her! I started this one Sept. 1st. which means its taken me almost 2 months to complete. I think thats a testimate to how busy things have been.
This painting is loosely inspired by Lakshmi, Hindu Goddess of fortune. She is often depicted with beautiful elephants by her side but in my version I melded Lakshmi with her elephant counterparts. Her old fashioned, fancy aristocratic dress and top hat are meant to communicate her abundance/ prosperity/fortune. I tried to incorporate a couple of the traditional symbols associated with the Goddess Lakshmi: the Lotus in her hand( evolution), Gold on the lotus, dress, in her eyes(prosperity), red/magenta/pink dress(creative activity), elephant head(wisdom, purity, charity) and peacock feather in her hat(transmutation, eternal knowing and truth.)
It was fascinating taking the time to research and get to know Lakshmi. I had hoped to finish her in time for Diwali Day when she is often worshiped/celebrated but that didn't go as planned.
Anyhoo, I plan on releasing some 8"x10" prints of her soon, so keep an eye on my etsy shop.

Speaking of prints...I recently released a new one:

"Goddess of the Hunt"
original acrylic painting
8"x10" prints now available for $15 here.

And here is one of 9 art pendants up for grabs right now:

The art used in this pendant is an archival giclee print of my original acrylic painting "Mistress and the Orb"
Let this pendant serve as a thing of beauty or work as a good luck charm of sorts, stimulating your drive to explore the majestic and mysterious.
Available for $10 here.

More comin soon!
Much love,
-Chelsea Rose
