Art Pendants!

I am very excited to unveil my newest creation: Art Pendants!

Lucid Art Pendents

Yep...thats right, now you can wear my art 'round your neck if you so choose.

wearing my art pendant
Here I am, proudly modeling one of the pendants on a ribbon necklace. I have 6 out of 40 listed in my etsy shop, so stay tuned for more to come!

art pendant by Chelsea Rose
A bit about the pendants:
These one of a kind necklaces feature an original piece of art by me or Danny Ebru that has been sealed into a glass pendant using water resistant glaze and hung from an adjustable ribbon necklace.

Here are the first three pendants featuring my art that we have listed in our etsy shop:

Faery Masquerade Art Pendant- $10 see the sale listing here.

"The art used in this necklace is an archival giclee print of Chelsea's original acrylic painting 'Masquerade Ball.' Let this pendant serve as a thing of beauty or work as a good luck charm of sorts, helping you tap into your personal mystery and self made magick. "

Cat Goddess Bast Art Pendant- $10 see the sale listing here.

"The art used in this necklace is an archival giclee print of Chelsea's original acrylic painting 'Bast, Keeper of the Meadow.'Let this pendant serve as a thing of beauty or work as a good luck charm of sorts, unleashing the stamina and power of your inner lioness. "

Third Eye Goddess Art Pendant- $10 see the sale listing here.

"Chelsea's drawing, 'Third Eye Goddess' used in this necklace is not a print but an original mini colored pencil illustration created for the sole purpose of turning your neck into an art gallery. Let this pendant serve as a thing of beauty or work as a good luck charm of sorts, stimulating your third eye, sharpening your perspective of this world and the ones in-between. "

So, there you have it. Many more to be added into our online shop in the next few weeks as i find time to take pictures and list the pendants( we have around 40 made!)
I cant wait to see what sort of response we get with them down at the Portland Saturday Market this weekend. Wish us luck!

Much love,
-Chelsea Rose

May is here- new beginnings!

So its May already? That means my two gallery shows have come to an end. On Sunday i went to InOtherWords feminist bookstore to take down my artwork which had been on display for the entire month of April. Today after work i go downtown to grab my artwork from the Practical Magic show. It was a great month with wonderful opportunities! I'm excited to see what May has in store.
...Speaking of new beginnings Danny and I had our rental applications approved for a glorious 2 bedroom apartment that we have had our eye on for a couple weeks now. Thus...we will be moving in another week! And yes...this does in fact mean i finally get an art room vs an art corner!
So on Saturday we went on over to the rental office and put a deposit down that takes the place off the market. We will be signing contracts come Wednesday...and then the moving maddess will begin!
Danny got a new lens for his camera so i was playing with it over the weekend. Its an 18-55mm ...which is significantly wider then his other lens. The wider lens really allows for more versatility. It can focus up to 11 inches close to the subject...and captures so much more of the suroundings too!
...i also found out that i can actually take pictures of myself using this lense without having to set up a tripod:
dread cam
so yes...here are a few shots done in the oh so cliché "stretch you arm out far enough and snap your photo" self portrait way. Fun huh?
my dreads are about 16 months old now. they stopped shrinking but they still seem to be getting fatter. cant wait till i finally grow some length.

danny dread
here is a snapshot i took of danny as he was daydreamin on the couch. He was talking about cutting off his dreadlocks once we are finished moving to the new apartment as a sort of "cleansing" ritual sorta thing. I am going to miss his dreadies. This is the longest he has ever had his hair.

I also wanted to share a goodie i got in the mail on Friday:
new wrap
My Aunt Char sent me this really cool head wrap in the mail. It was a great surprise and the wrap is super bright and colorfull.
I loved what the label said- " Life is an illusion, dress accordingly."
Thanks Aunt Char! I love it :)

So thats about it! It may prove to be a busy week. We have to find some moving boxes and start packing all the books and trinkets. Im really looking forward to this move. Change can be a beautiful thing.

I wish you all health, happiness and success in this new month!
Much love,
-Chelsea Rose

Plans are made to be broken- recounting Lost Thursday and the weekend

I have noticed in my short life thus far that plans made tend to be broken. For the art walk that i had been rambling about for some time, that was to occur last Thursday, was indeed canceled by the unpredictable rain of the pacific north west.
I had also made plans to do another body painting photo shoot on Saturday but Friday night received a text that undid those plans. I enjoyed turning the alarm clock off, sinking back into bed with the knowledge id get to sleep in on Saturday instead of rush off to a photo shoot.
That pretty much set the tone for the rest of the weekend. I didn't leave the couch much. I read books, with a warm sleeping cat on my lap and a mug of tea within reach for the better part of Saturday and Sunday. Even though none of that was the initial plan for the weekend, id say it all worked itself out rather nicely.
When i did get my butt of the couch it was to work a lil bit on my ink on acrylic paintings.
Took a few photos of my work table to share:

I ended up listing two of these new ink and acrylic paintings for sale in our etsy shop:
new stuff
yellow Bastet cat goddess
9"x12"
hand drawn pen and ink illustration and acrylic painting on canvas
by Chelsea Rose
going for $40
for more info check out the listing here

...i have a bunch more to list and will be doing so throughout the week along with more tie dye!

Last night I browsed through more of the photos of Ana and posted another shot:

Just wanted to share these few things this morning with you all.

A lot is coming up this week and next week. Tomorrow i drop off my art to be hung for April Fools in the Practical Magic Group show, that i am super pleased to be in:
Practical Magic Art Opening
If you are in Portland on April fools i highly recommend stopping by and checking out this show which will be full to the brim with some of Portland's best and local art!
Once i have submitted the art for the this group show i will start piecing together the artwork that i will be displaying at the feminist book store: InOtherWords which should be up for all of April to check out after April the 3rd!
Cool stuff.
I will keep you posted on the goings about.

So yep, thats about it for now.

Much love,

---------------That concludes our featured SALE items for today.

Now id like to talk about my recent going ons.

Cold morning
Here is a picture of Sushi-cat and I doing a bit of early morning window gazing before anyone was up on Saturday. Its been getting more chilly with each week and I wonder when we will get the first snow fall. This weekend I managed to back up all my computer files which really sets my mind at ease. I have had two computers die on me and both times lost years worth of creation and photos. I have learned the hard way.
This weekend I didnt do any painting at all. Im frustrated with the paint I have. I normally use System 3, 3D paint( super thick and saturated) but I cant seem to find it in any of the local art stores. Thus I have been using some really crappy transparent winsor and newton student brand and its making it impossible to do any cover ups, which is currently needful.
So i drew instead:
Endowment
Pen and Ink drawing.
I am sure this one will make my family a bit uncomfortable.
I was doodling on the couch while Danny and I watched a cartoon movie about Wonder Women's Amazon warrior princess origins. I think my mind was imagining some amazon warrior priestess, divinely endowed in an unusual way. Anyway...it was a fun doodle and I wanted to share it.
Trippy no?

Hanging my paintings for the show
I will be going on Tuesday to T.Ruth Art space to finally take down my paintings from my solo gallery show. My work was up for 2 months. Come Thursday Tiffany will have a new artist up there. I cant wait to go to the reception and see the new paintings all hung and meet the artist. Its going to be strange having my artwork back. I rather liked having some of my walls uncluttered by mass amounts of art...but it will be good to have them back. I ended up selling 6 smaller paintings during the time my art was up and I think im going to leave the rest of the smaller paintings with her so maybe she can sell them during the Holidays. It was an awesome opportunity and a wonderful/inspiring exercise and I feel blessed to have had it granted to me. Im not too sure if the whole gallery/art opening bizz is really my thing but I look forward to future opportunities and experiences to widen my artistic journey.

Thats it for now.
More later, I promise.

Much love,
-Chelsea Rose

Saturday musings, news and blog awards

First of all I would like to hip you guys to the fact that i was featured by Megan on her blog Studio M.M.E with a full artist interview! click to see my feature Here

Also, Megan presented me with a "Honest Scrap Award"

Here are the rules:

Share “10 Honest Things” about myself and present this award to 7 others whose blogs I find brilliant in content and/or design, or those who have encouraged me.

My answers:

1. I believe in faeries.

2. I love to write poetry even though I rarely show anyone my writings anymore. I am currently attempting to write a fiction novel.

3. Sometimes I feel I am a 80+ year old woman trapped in a 22year olds body. When I am not at work( currently working as a part time Admin Assistant for a small IT management company in Oregon. Funny huh?) I tend to be a hermit, painting, drinking tea and hangin out with Danny and my cat all day + I am usually asleep before 10:00pm(unless there is something worth staying up to behold/partake) and cant ever seem to sleep in anymore past 7:00am

4. I can be a bit of an air head…I have a terrible memory. I swear I am already suffering symptoms of dementia!

5. I have always sketched and painted the same subject. My family laughs about how when I was a little girl I was already drawing nothing but big breasted mermaids.

6. I’m horribly terrible at math and spelling. In elementary school I was diagnosed with learning disabilities and was in a resource group for a year or two. I was late to learn to read and write, yet in high school I was the top of my class in English. I love creative writing. reading is one of my most prized leisure’s. but I will always loath math, no matter what.

7. I am a storyteller by nature and thus I tend to over exaggerate things at times.

8. worst fears: spiders, western medicine, roller coasters, and I really really cant stand gore. even if its cartoon gore.

9. I love tea, cheesecake and sushi. I would live off that stuff for the rest of my life if I could.

10. I am fascinated by all things paranormal. I feel this fascination may be ever present in my life based on some strange encounters that I had as a child and young adult.

Also, to follow up with my last blog and the question i asked: which of my recent drawings should i turn into a painting? The majority of people voted for my pen and ink drawing "posy nymph"

Posy Nymph

So i went ahead and began to paint her. This is what i have done so far:

creative process- Posy Nymph So here is where i painted the background. Once that was dry i took my lil art projector out and projected my pen and ink drawing onto the canvas. I traced the basic outlines and then went over the lines till they were crisp.

....Then i began to put my first layers of color:

Creative Process- posy nymph

It has been a busy few weeks so i have not been able to work on this piece as much as i would have liked to. So i am hoping for some time this weekend to do some more color layering. I will have danny help me out with pictures, hopefully!

....in the mean time here are some random pictures i found that made me smile.

Sushi kitty

Me and my Sushi kitty cat. We dont have many pictures together so this is special.

.....also i found a great shot of our Jack O Lanterns we carved from last year:

Jack o Lanterns 08

....i do believe fall is my fave time of the year up here in Portland Oregon. The trees have begun to change colors and drop their leaves. in a few weeks my world will be busting full of october color. im looking forward to it very much.

.....till next time!

-Chelsea Rose
