This week has been pretty mellow. I have been working on revising more of the photos that i took last Saturday of my model Wenseay for my body painting project. She was my first dark model. I used white paint instead of the black that i have been using on my lighter models.
The effect was startling and very lovely.
Here are a couple more shots that I released over the week:

I have a lot more to edit and release!
This weekend i was hoping to do another shoot with a dark model and the white paint but nothing seems to have materialized. However, i did get a certain model to confirm to do a body painting shoot on March the 13th. Im very excited! She is a beautiful black lady with a tun of curves and sultry roundness. She will do perfectly. More details soon!
So, this weekend I guess I will be free to do a lot of photo editing and work on the painting I have been working on.
here are a few work in progress shots that I took during the week as I was working on the painting:
I had painted this much during Tuesday night.
I made a lot of progress and a bunch of changes Wednesday night. It seems my color palette has changed from green and purple to more oranges and reds. Not sure if i am content with this color scheme but I'm going to play with it a lot more over the weekend.
So now you know what i have been up to all week and what i will probably be doing all weekend since its predicted to be a rainy one.
Best wishes to all!
and hello to all my new blog followers. thanks so much for the support!
Love,

The first body painting in this post is a total winner!!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see all of your new projects. Once thing that I want to say about your new painting is that you should start to embrace the edges of your canvas. Her arm seems to shy away from it, which only brings the viewer's attention to it even more. It's all right for things to go off the edges. Just bring our attention back in. You can also play with bringing our attention to a certain area or focal point. Everything is the same intensity in your work. Our eyes will move around more if you push and pull us out of focus and intensity. Just a few ideas. Take them with grains of salt. :)
ReplyDeleteEva, glad you think so.
ReplyDeleteMegan,
Thanks for your words, as always they are appreciated! Id say the only thing in this painting that isn’t “embracing the edges of the canvas” is the arm since the head is certainly on and passing the edge as well as her headdress/dangly parts and her torso. I’m thinking im going to keep the arm the way it is because i was going for a kinda "rosie the riveter" inspired pose with her tentacle arm. While this is a very portrait style art piece like most of my creature paintings….i was playing with the focal point idea by darkening the blue around the creature but keeping it brightest where her tentacle arm spirals- thus making that a focal or anchoring point. but know whos what i will or with this painting over the weekend.
again, thanks for your words :)
I like the color change. It really draws in the full spectrum!
ReplyDeleteOh my, these are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHello there new-blogger-friend.
These are amazing! I really really love them!! That black/white contrast is sooo awesome :)
ReplyDeleteI really love the second body painting pic! I like Megan's points about varying the intensity to make the viewer's eye move around the painting...i think that its a valid comment and that it can be a tricky proposition but something thats good to experiment with. I like the contrast of the reds and oranges with the blue background because it really makes the figure pop out of the background.
ReplyDeleteGreat work!
Wow, the body painting...
ReplyDeleteso glad everyone is enjoying!
