Lots of new Art thingys for sale in my etsy shop!
So, its Monday and I have stuff to share!
I played hooky from selling my art at the Portland Saturday Market over the weekend. I know, bad form indeed. But! I used my time wisely and got a lot of things done including taking product photos of a bunch of new items, and then listing said items on etsy for sale, see?
I have art pendants galore including some new sizes and shapes:

Pretty shnazzy huh?
The new size is 1 1/4"x 1 7/8".
This pendant in particular features a print of my original acrylic painting"Mistress and the Orb" that has been sealed into a glass pendant using glaze. A silver plated medium sized bail is secured to the back with glaze so that the pendant can be worn on most any necklace/chain.
This pendant was lovingly hand made with positive intent and can also be used as a charm of sorts, stimulating your drive to explore the majestic and mysterious.

More Work In Progress painting and Tie Dye SALE
Woohoo! Made it alive to another Friday.
And i got a bit more work done on my current painting:
I added a very roughly painted ruined city consumed by flames in the background. I am going to play around with it more and see what i can do to help enhance it. I had really liked the background how it was before adding the city in, so had been going back and forth with myself on whether or not i wanted to stick to my plan and paint Babylon burning. I think i am liking it. Perhaps its helped push my intended meaning with the piece. The painting will most likely be titled " The Prophetess of healing." Its about the cycles and balance of life. The ebb and flow of death and renewal. Also expressing that there is pain/trauma in healing and yet the potential of transformation is exhilarating.

Body Painting Commission Photos and Original Watercolor Paintings for sale!
It proved to be a fairly mellow week with some much better behaved weather that did not leave my brain melted into a puddle between my feet.
On Tuesday Danny and I drove out to Scholl Oregon to meet a photographer and his pregnant model for a body painting commission.
The photographer was hoping for a somewhat "earth mama" vibed body painting since he intended to photograph the maternity shoot amongst Oregon's lush greenery.
While i worked Danny took some photos of the process:
As seen in the above photo i started the body painting by blocking out some color and then going into it to create detail and shape in order to create flowers.
The flowers were inspired by the big "dinner plate Dahlia" flowers.
The lotus was a fun addition with its roots delving into a very mysterious eye. I liked the back piece the best.
With this body painting i was trying to part ways a bit from the body painting style i have been using for my women's study body painting seires. I want to keep that look of mine soly under my name in hopes that my project will remain consistent and easily recognizable.
...Anyhow i am interested to see photos from the photographer and i will share a few with his permission on the blog when he does come out with them.

Otherwise, summer continues to beat its drum and my morning glory flowers are blooming in a fever!
....and this pleases me :)
Danny got our basil clippings to begin rooting in some of my antique bottles:
...so as of yesterday they have been happily potted on the patio.
I love the way the basil smells in the morning and i am greatly anticipating some of danny's home made pesto made from our home grown plant!
And here is a look at a goofy pic i took of myself the other day when i was playing around with my locs:
I enjoyed this style because it reminded me of the hair of my current mermaid painting that i am working on:

I ordered some Henna dye for my dready tendrils just the other day so if the powder arrives today or tomorrow I may end up with "Irish red" locs for Monday. we shall see!
Otherwise, as far as this weekend goes i am pleased to say there are no "big plans." I hope to enjoy, relax and get a bunch of work done on my mermaid painting. wish me luck!

Sidewalk Art Sale + Finished painting
This weekend was lovely with all of its sunshine and activity. It seems Portland had come alive, to be quickly followed by rain again. Oh well, at least we had a nice stretch of sunny weekend before the rain returns.
On Saturday Danny and I were to watch T.Ruth art space gallery for the day. We had the idea to set up a lil sidewalk art sale to see if we could catch the interest of the passer byes. It worked!
It certainly caught peoples interest and pulled a lot more traffic into the gallery.
Meanwhile Danny was working on getting more of his stencil artworks cutout while i was working on a painting:
I love working in the art gallery. I really am able to focus and sit there and paint for hours.
While i do love my home art room....working at home can be tough because there is always plenty of things to distract me, mainly my cat, my love and the computer...not to mention my patio( which was just beckoning to me all weekend because of the nice weather. All most all of my herb and flower seeds have sprouted! I hope they grow up quickly so i can enjoy them before the summer is gone and the cold seeps back into place.)
So i painted in the gallery from 1-6pm and was able to finish the painting i was working on
On Sunday i managed to paint the sides of the canvas black, sign, date and varnish the painting. Today when i am home from work i will do my best to get a good, crisp photo of the finished painting in its whole to share.
On Sunday i was also able to schedule another body painting photo shoot for this coming Sunday the 19th! It will be another white paint on dark skin painting/photo session. I hope it all works out and that the plans do not fall through!
Also excited to learn that Danny and I will be putting some artwork into a group show in Vancouver. The theme is Freedom. I will report more details soon, as they come to me.

A new drawing and stuff on SALE
Hello all!
Not much has been going on other then gearing up the mind, body and stuff for the move to a new apartment.
But i did do some doodling a few nights ago:

...so i thought i would share.
I have also done some more painting on my current work in progress. Now i have gone in and done a dark vignette around the subject while adding more highlights and shading into the main details. I'm pretty much finished now i just have to work on the hands...so hopefully i will have some time this weekend to get it done and photographed to share come Monday. We shall see...i might be busy garage sale hunting for rugs, sofas, dressers and patio chairs. Wish me luck!

The purple dress was found in a super groovy thrift shop and it had just begged for a new creative makeover. Danny hand designed the mushroom and then hand screen printed it onto the dress and a few other shirts. The screen print has since been retired and this is one of the few articles of clothing with the print that has yet to sell! If you are a lover of Mushrooms...and purple, how could you resist!?

Plans are made to be broken- recounting Lost Thursday and the weekend
I have noticed in my short life thus far that plans made tend to be broken. For the art walk that i had been rambling about for some time, that was to occur last Thursday, was indeed canceled by the unpredictable rain of the pacific north west.
I had also made plans to do another body painting photo shoot on Saturday but Friday night received a text that undid those plans. I enjoyed turning the alarm clock off, sinking back into bed with the knowledge id get to sleep in on Saturday instead of rush off to a photo shoot.
That pretty much set the tone for the rest of the weekend. I didn't leave the couch much. I read books, with a warm sleeping cat on my lap and a mug of tea within reach for the better part of Saturday and Sunday. Even though none of that was the initial plan for the weekend, id say it all worked itself out rather nicely.
When i did get my butt of the couch it was to work a lil bit on my ink on acrylic paintings.

A lot is coming up this week and next week. Tomorrow i drop off my art to be hung for April Fools in the Practical Magic Group show, that i am super pleased to be in:

That pretty much set the tone for the rest of the weekend. I didn't leave the couch much. I read books, with a warm sleeping cat on my lap and a mug of tea within reach for the better part of Saturday and Sunday. Even though none of that was the initial plan for the weekend, id say it all worked itself out rather nicely.
When i did get my butt of the couch it was to work a lil bit on my ink on acrylic paintings.

Just wanted to share these few things this morning with you all.
A lot is coming up this week and next week. Tomorrow i drop off my art to be hung for April Fools in the Practical Magic Group show, that i am super pleased to be in:
If you are in Portland on April fools i highly recommend stopping by and checking out this show which will be full to the brim with some of Portland's best and local art!
Once i have submitted the art for the this group show i will start piecing together the artwork that i will be displaying at the feminist book store: InOtherWords which should be up for all of April to check out after April the 3rd!

This weekend on Saturday I will be back inside T.Ruth Artspace Gallery doing yet another body painting and photography session...So if you are in Portland and have some time to kill on Saturday please feel welcome to drop by and hang out inside the gallery while I create a live art instillation.

We ended up on one of those oh so crazy craigslist quests, but we got em in the end and for super cheap!
So yes, I look forward to posting again on monday and giving you a peak into the weekend madness.
